As promised an email in English for those of you that can't read Dutch. It's been a while since I posted an update so... where to start?
On May 27 Anky and Thom came over from the Netherlands for the weekend. The day they arrived the weather changed from rainy to sunny and stayed that way throughout the weekend. We spent quite some time in the city together, went to the Brooklyn Bridge, had dinner in Greenwich, walked through Central Park, had lunch at an incredible Mexican place near central park, took the car to Times Square, walked the boardwalk in Hoboken and ended our weekend at a sushi Lounge in Hoboken (Hudson Street). This was their visit in a nutshell and it does not do justice at all. I almost forgot to mention the dinner that Lisette cooked for us... she invited Angeline, her brother and girlfriend, and the three of us for one of her famous "candle light suppers" at the "Bucket" (pronounce bouquet) residence.
On Monday the three of us flew back to Europe since I had some business I had to take care of in the Netherlands and they needed to go back to work. (business / work, what's the difference??? ;-))
In Eindhoven my colleague, John McEnroe (no he does not play tennis) and I stayed at a hotel formerly know as Cocagne. Then renamed Dorint, taken over by the Accor group so now named: Cocagne Eindhoven Dorint Sofitel. The brand manager probably read the book: Hotel names for Dummy's.
Anyway on Wednesday we went to the Eindhoven office and I saw all of my old colleagues again, so for 2 minutes I thought about not going back to the States. Then I remembered that life in the States is not so bad after all and I started counting the days to my return. The week was great we actually had meetings scheduled that worked out even better than we thought. On Friday Jeroen picked me up from the office and we had dinner in Tilburg that night with Niki & Jeroen, David & Mariette, and their daughter Jitske (4 1/2 months old). We planned a BBQ but it ended up being a grill on the table because of the horrible weather in the Netherlands.
Saturday at the tennis club I saw 11 days old Luuk, son of Marcel & Roos for the first time, right before visiting 9 months old Max and Saskia & JP. Then we had dinner at my parents place and went to the wedding of Driek & Ester. Ester and I were in AIESEC together more than 10 years ago (god I am getting old). It was great to see all the old AIESEC board members and friends again. We decided that nobody really changed a lot, but that's probably caused by the fact that all of us aged and our eyesight is getting worse...
Sunday was the only day that I could rest and just relax. That night a BBQ was planned again so I've had my share of meat for the next couple of months.
The flight back home on Monday was good, with the middle seat empty and some great movies like "the wedding date". So now I am back in Jersey the weather here is absolutely great: 32C or around 88F. Unfortunately I am in the office as we speak. This Saturday I am picking up my car so... Hopefully I will have some pictures shortly. Pictures of Anky and Thom's visit will come as soon as they send them to me!

Nicoline:
Hoi Jolande,
groetjes Nicoline.
